During the recent National Quality Forum (NQF) Board of Directors meeting, votes were taken to endorse the remaining nursing home measures (including staffing and weight loss) and the National Voluntary Consensus Standards for Nursing-Sensitive Care: An Initial Performance Measure Set.
This effort was advanced by the Steering Committee on which ANA President Barbara A. Blakeney, MS, APRN,BC, ANP, served as a special liaison. ALL of the ANA measures (falls prevalence, falls with injury, skill mix (RN, LVN/LPN, UAP, and contract), and nursing care hours per patient day (RN, LPN, and UAP)) which went out on the ballot were approved for endorsement. There will be a reconsideration by the NQF membership of four measures (pneumonia prevalence (hospital-acquired), restraint prevalence, urinary tract infection (UTI) prevalence and nurses' educational preparation)。
